A photo ledge is a great way to display artwork or photographs in a flexible way. You can layer them over each other or leave space in between each piece, depending on how casual or formal you want the display to be. The best part is that you don't have to worry about where you place the nails for the pictures!

A ledge is a great idea for displaying kids books. I imagine that seeing the covers of the books would draw kids to them much more than a shelf full of tightly packed spines. Interior design by Elizabeth Sullivan Design. Photo from http://elizabethsullivandesign.com/
Another great photo ledge seen in the December 2011 issue of Living Etc. The dark yet neutral color on the wall and ledge painted to match really allow the family photos in mismatched frames to pop. Photo by Jake Fitzjones. Styling by Shani Zion.
